A professor from IIT Kanpur has stated that the third wave of the pandemic will likely reach its peak in Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra this week.

Dr Manindra Agrawal said that the third wave has reached its peak in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Last year, Dr Agrawal had predicted that the third wave would peak by the end of January.

He further stated that the infection is spreading faster than projected earlier. He added that in Maharashtra, the wave is predicted to peak on 19th January; however, it may even be sooner as the trajectory is almost flat. The peak is expected in Gujarat on 19th January, while in Haryana, it is predicted to peak on 20th January. Dr Agrawal further stated that southern states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu will witness the peak next week… (Times Now, January 18, 2022)
